Taliban soldier allowed to stay

Recommended Posts

Ahmadzai claims that when he tried to leave the Taliban after he realised innocent people were being killed, he was taken to a mountain and tortured.

He alleges that shortly afterwards he fled the country but cannot return because his life would be in danger from both the Taliban and the Afghan National Security Forces, who oppose the Islamic extremist group.

like it or not thats what makes this country stand above other countries, were civilised and treat people with respect, even ones that are "dodgy"

looking at that quote it doesnt sound like hes hardcore taliban, just a young fella that joined thinking he was doing good helping against people invading his country.

lets face it, if this country was "invaded" you lot would want to help fight back?

he left the taliban cos innocents were being killed, that DOESNT sound like a hardcore follower to me, sounds like he still had morals and his own thoughts of right and wrong

It would appear from this quote that we didn't do it out of the goodness of our hearts, the government wanted to deport him.

Taliban has used the Human Rights Act to remain in Britain – despite Government efforts to deport him.

Personally I would have employed him in Afghanistan and used his unique insight into the Talban to help save his people, our soldiers and to help rebuild his country and make it a safer place for him to live.

no your right they did try to deport him but cos were civilised etc we do have laws and rights etc which desperate people (rightly and wrongly) could be used.

as for your second point, that sounds like a good idea, although could you really trust him out there? we know of taliban / al queda infilitrates in the security services.

suppose if he was really desperate to stay alive out of afganistan hed maybe put his money where his mouth is and help us?
