BigAl#13
Well if the timing belt has snapped then it won't start, and stop trying to make it start in case the valves are protruding in to the cylinder, otherwise you might bend them or damage the piston crown. VERY expensive. You can get it towed to a garage, who will need to whip the rocker cover off and look at the valves to see if they are damaged. If they aren't then they need to realign everything to TDC and then fit a new belt. Fingers crossed that's all that is damaged.

alchresearch
Have a look or post your question on peugeotforums.com - there have been a couple of recent posts from cambelt snaps, and the damage hasn't been so bad. What mileage does your car have?
GrannyGranny
Yep tow to a garage you can trust (a few recommendations on here) and get them to take a look. You may be lucky. Some engines (such as in the the MX-5) are not damaged when the belt goes.
