Pianist Philip Thomas specialises in performing new and experimental music,

including both notated and improvised music. He places much emphasis on each concert being a unique event, designing imaginative programmes that provoke and reveal connections. Philip's most recent solo projects have included a showcase of British experimental music in Basel, Switzerland; a 12-hour solo performance of John Cage’s Electronic Music for Piano as part of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and a survey of the music of Christian Wolff, including a number of UK premieres along with newly commissioned works by Steve Chase, Tim Parkinson and Michael Parsons. Philip is also a Reader in Music at the University of Huddersfield, where he heads the performance curriculum.
