claw
judo now theres a sport! belt systems go back through ninjitsu, japan, white, green, black, traditional thai arm band colours, which indicate novice, intermediate, advanced. belt and colour markings have been around long before judo, judo was created out of jujitsu to get away from the traditional training or family methods to make it faster and more efective, like in any sport you train sport nesasary, it was first taught to japanese police and the armed forces the guys who had to subdue an opponent quikley
