Cameron's attack on the poor!

Recommended Posts

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the public sector nurses, and I did not speak out because I am not a public sector worker.

Then they came for the disabled and I did not speak out because I am not disabled.

Then they came for the elderly and I did not speak out because I am not elderly,

Then they came for the unemployed and I did not speak out for them, because I am not unemployed

Who will be next....and who will be left to speak out for them?

I think replacing benefits with an alternative is an excellent idea. If it's not, then nobody can moan about the abuse of the benefit system. I doubt very much he would wish for ALL under 25's to live at home, but, why is that a horrendous idea? It can't be enforced, and, quite frankly, where better place for them to receive support if they can not find work. I also think that if there are initiatives for disabled people to work, and if they want to (because, let's face it - many WANT to), then that is great. It's all in the wording. 'Disabled' is such a broad term. I see this as a good thing. I wholly approve of their ideas with regards fostering and adoption. Cameron has a lot of s**t to clean up in this country (s**t that he did not create)...and in order to make things better things sometimes have to get a little bit worse. For change to take place, PEOPLE have to change. You can't just rely on a government to wave a magic wand and everything be okay for everyone as they are. People have to make changes to their lives.....like how many kids they have for a start, and how, they can't just keep on reproducing expecting a country to look after them.

This distills into a few sentences everything that is wrong with current Tory policies. Well done.

Actually, I think he's doing quite a good job.

well seeing as the Conservatives have no MP's in Sheffield (though you could include Orange Booker Clegg) and hardly any Cllr's you are a minority in this city....

in fact, one could observe they and there views are strangely over-represented on SF given the City's voting patterns.....

People who went round in real life spouting those views would get filled in very quickly. Or would have to live in a posh village full of Daily Mail readers to get away with it.

I also question in what way this government, or the last, failed to support wealthy people to the point that they felt 'unwelcome' or the need to leave? A lot of wealthy people leave the country for tax purposes, which I find reprehensible. They've made their money here, but are unwilling to pay tax here, even though it is fair and necessary for the wellbeing of their country. I don't agree with much that the government spends my taxes on, but pay it I do.

Actually I wouldn't mind the top rate of tax being 30% for everyone, as long as EVERYONE paid ALL of it, and didn't go in for tax avoidance by whatever means.

An interesting choice of words.. What makes you think I would ever want support from the Govt? Most of the people I know want as little to do as possible with the Govt - they certainly don't want support, but as little interference from them as possible. Generally speaking that means a Conservative govt as that means as little red tape as possible. Given the choice most people would vote for higher Govt tax and less red tape than the otehr way round it can be that onerous.

As for tax avoidance there is nothing wrong with that at all. Got an ISA? Got a penison? That's tax avoidance - nothing wrong with it. Tax evasion on the other hand is of course a bad thing and that should be leant on hard.

We now know from the example of people like Bob Diamond that the rich can never be rich enough, and always want more. At the expense of other people.

Don't forget you live in one of the richest countries of the world adn are probably wealthier than 90% of the worlds population - so who are you rich at the expense of? The Chinese sweatshop people stitching your clothes - the Palestinians picking fruit in an Israeli farm that uses most of the water they have?

And they provide a safe environment for left-wing posturing by impotent little people who have dreams of filling someone in to counteract their own perceived inaedquacies.
