ooisit
Edward T Kirk. Dad was a trekkie hence the 'T'. I thought he might have gone to the casino a lot or watched Frankie Howard on tv.
ooisit
It's a lot more expensive to take up as a hobby in most places than say running or kicking a ball around outside. I wouldn't put swimming down as a rich mans sport though.

We had an olympic swimmer train at our school eery day many years ago, he trained for free. John Warhurst the star walker walked and trained every day passing our house, that was also free. This day and age not much is cheap if you want to reach the top at any sport. Robin hood would'nt even qualify for the Nottingham castle archery tournament these days. Yes I agree but Warhurst also had a few other strings to his bow..dedication, ability, stamina, discipline etc. Finance is not the overriding factor. Because a Black athlete decides not to take swimming as a career doesn't mean he/she doesn't have those qualities..there just put to another sport of their choice for a host of other equally differing factors. So you don't think white people have any genetic advantage where swimming is concerned ? Would the same factors not also be relevant in Running ? Other than bone density..which is arguable, no. http://www.afro.com/sections/sports/story.htm?storyid=75479 Would the same factors not also be relevant in Running ? What factors and who? White runners are as equally good as Black runners.
