GodStar
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-18735215 £3000 a month is £36k per year. Does seem very expensive indeed. Does this include everything-rent / rates / service charge / utilities?
Kerrangaroo
I thought they were called gypsies? Today is my 'be politically correct' day.
kingius
The 3000 pound rent is ridiculous for a market trader. "Only way to run a business, price it high and if it doesnt fill up then reduce price bit by bit till it does," Spoken like the greedy. Remind us what business you run so we can avoid it. Spoken like every person running a business I hope. You sell things for the best value you can get, otherwise you're not very good at running a business. Rob_1
Only way to run a business, price it high and if it doesnt fill up then reduce price bit by bit till it does, ......By which time you could be out of business. Great model
Rob_1
Spoken like every person running a business I hope. You sell things for the best value you can get, otherwise you're not very good at running a business. But you don't start off at a silly price and reduce bit by bit, losing money all the while. You do research and get the price right (or very close to it) first time. Given the kind of people that hang out around the bottom of the Moor i'd be amazed if many market stalls could afford to pay 3 grand a month in rent + wages and other expenses on top. Ideally yes, you might make a mistake and over price it, but you gain nothing by deliberately doing so, it just means your wasting time/money not selling your product. I was being generous and reading it as saying that you should price it as highly as you can actually sell it. And that the people who were responding calling it greedy though it should be some sort of charity and not attempt to make the maximum profit possible. danny128
£3000 for a prime spot in sheffied city center is not expensive, you can paid £60 for a pitch at thorsby market and doesnt include anything.
Ousetunes
All futile. Anyone foolish enough to set up a business in Sheffield has too much money anyway or is probably a tile short of a new roof. This council will go out if its way to ensure you and your business are not welcome in this 'large village'. Take your ideas to progressive and welcoming places like Leeds, Nottingham, Barnsley and Castleton.
