NorthernStar Posted July 7, 2012 Share Posted July 7, 2012 OP, the friend is probably skint and embarrassed as indicated by the rubber cheque; if that's the case then the county court won't be able to get you what your friend hasn't got. Has all forms of reasonable communication broken down? - if not then you need to have a heart to heart with your friend and maybe all that's needed is for your friend to solve his/her current financial problems. - if your friendship has already deteriorated then you should try the court but expect this whole affair to be a hard and expensive life lesson to you, get on with your life and not let it eat you up.
