When I phoned up a week or so to order from them they told me that they have closed for a full refurbishment but will be opening again soon. So I believe it will still be Bangla Cottage.

Its a heck of a refurb then, because everything has been stripped back to plaster inside.

I really hope it's still going as Bangla. The food and service were excellent. I hope they have just closed to create more space inside for customers to sit.

The guy on the phone definitely told me that they had just closed for a full refurb and that they would be open again soon.

and it's not Indian its Bangladeshi.

 

Not that it matters a great deal, because many "Indian" restaurants are ran by Bangladeshi's., front and back of house.

 

Those industrious people from the vast flood plain that was once known as East Pakistan.

 

Now it really is an Indian restaurant - The Front Room - run by one of the guys from East and West South Indian on Abbeydale Road. They do the full range of standard Bengali stuff, and some nice specials as well (a slow-cooked Kashmiri lamb, chicken with mushrooms and mint).

 

Chilli paneer is on the starters' list which makes me very happy! Hopefully, they will add more Indian items as time goes by.
