Wanting an all inclusive holiday

Recommended Posts

I'd hardly call myself a chav thank you very much! Not sure why I am having to defend myself, I work hard for my money and will spend it how I please.

I personally preferred Sharm because there was a bit more too it - whereas like you say, Hurgharda is still pretty undeveloped, and to me it wasn't in a "real-egypt" type way.

Thats my point though ,theres nothing to Sharm as regards Egyptian culture, it might as well be on the moon ,like I said Skegness with sun.You cant even leave Sharm because theres nowhere else to go round it.

I was looking for a holiday for 16 of us and found Turkey to be the best priced all inclusive with the most fun looking hotels for families! Lots of them had waterparks on site etc and were in places where you could venture out if you wanted to and some were even 24 all inclusive.

I had always looked for hotels aimed at adults before but I'll be checking out family hotels whether I go with children or not in future, they have so much more going on!

Enjoy, wherever you go :)

Cant understand why you prefer Sharm to Hurghada the former is a commercialised tourist center with no sign of the real Egypt

Sinai is Sinai. It is a part of Egypt but it has an individual Bedouin culture. Sharm isn't the only place in Sinai either.

Egypt usually have huge complexes for hotels (usually because there isn't much else there).

not much else there? Are you kidding? Sinai has easily the best off beach snorkelling anywhere near Europe, St Catherine's Monastery, Mount Sinai, you can ride a camel up the mountain if you want, or Arabian ponies and camp in the desert really peaceful, and there's nothing there except some hotel complex that could be anywhere?

Cant understand why you prefer Sharm to Hurghada the former is a commercialised tourist center with no sign of the real Egypt..Skegness with sun,Hurghada is not as commercial and while its gradually getting that way at least it still has areas of old culture..still I suppose you have to weigh up the reasons for going away...chav holiday...Sharm....want to see a little of the real Egypt ...Hurghada ...There always Luxor ..now that is real Egypt

Spent a fair bit of time working in Egypt, mainly around Alexandria and Cairo, not sure I want to take a holiday in what you might call the "real" Egypt. For the most part its a country with a fair amount of poverty.

Never been to Luxor, but I imagine its a fairly commercialised tourist centre.

of course Luxor is touristy, you also need to at least try to study a bit of Egyptology before you get there, because otherwise it will just wash over your head. It's not like going to a museum and just looking at a few exhibits. It's really quite complex, and it's difficult to make sense of it unless you have a fantastic guide, which we just didn't.

best thing about Luxor is that is where most of the feluccas leave down the river, an overnight on one of those is one the peaceful things I ever did and it cost next to nothing. Much better than going on one of those Nile cruise ships.

Saw some photos a mate of mine took when he went, just looked rammed with people. I quite like a wander round a historical site, but it just looked too busy for comfort to me....I like peace and tranquility on a holiday :)

Not keen on the all-inclusive type of holiday either, seems like it would be a booze and food fest, although having never been on one, I wouldnt really know....

I only went on an all-inclusive once to the Dominican Republic. It was not bad at all, and very good value, it cost about $700 odd per person for two weeks, 10 years ago, amazing value really considering it included all food and drinks including beers and a 10 hour return flight. The standard of accommodation was much better than what I usually get when I'm abroard. The tours were ok too, also not expensive, we went white water rafting, went to Haiti on a day trip what a joke that was. I wanted to say I'd been there, even though it was a pretty pointless bus tour. We went to the island's capital independently on the bus, and stayed in a cheap hotel from the Lonely Planet guide. When I found out one of the waiters was an ex-baseball player, I got him to take us to a baseball match as a guide one night, which was the most interesting part, and found out that the Dominicans are a pretty volatile bunch, unlike the waiters and staff at the resort, who are all really well behaved as the jobs are highly prized, they're poor and can't afford to put a foot wrong. Local music and dance scene was good too. If we'd have gone independently, it would have been much more expensive. So don't write them off completely, there is a place for them.
