My Driving Offence court case Dropped due to Incorrect Info on Ticket

Recommended Posts

Yes I could have been a martyr and whipped myself for being several miles over on a deserted country road. I was expecting to pay up but since my record is clean at the age of 36 they obviously decided I wasn't a habitual law breaker.

That's utter rubbish. They let you off because they thought you were a good law abiding citizen? More likely there was some kind of discrepancy and had you contested it, they knew they couldn't make it stick. That's the truth of it.

You admit your guilt, so why didn't you pay?..It's no different from the OP!

He didn't avoid anything. He gave them his details, he chose to go to court, they chose not to turn up to contest it. He knew he'd done wrong when he parked illegally by the sound of it, are you saying you've never done that? Did you send your fine in the absence of any valid ticket?

I never got the ticket, he did and still chose to avoid it, you're descending into semantics but this is not a US courtroom but a more no nonsense forum so forget that line.

Have I ever parked illegally? I don't think I have, not that I remember. If I was caught doing so I'd think "my mistake, I'd better pay up, what a wally I've been"

not "I've been caught out breaking the law but hold on..."

That's because I'm an adult not a kidult.

Because he does have a moral duty to do that. How old are you by the way?

Because 'the state' (are you a conspiracy theorist?) got the date wrong is irrelevant, mistakes are made daily across the world as you know.

:loopy:

A moral duty? No he didn't. He had a legal duty to either pay or go to court, he chose the latter.

If a police officer is making basic mistakes like this then more serious criminals could get off too.

A discrepancy from a photo from the camera? Interesting theory, in which case they wouldn't have sent me the letter would they?

It's completely different, I wasn't issued with a ticket and told to pay up. He was. You seem to have missed that bit of material evidence.

Ah a symbol of a thing pointing at its head. When the childish insults begin it's a sign of having lost.

By your standards he had no moral duty. Fine, I'll stick with mine.

Guess what? More serious criminals have got off too because of minor mistakes played on by semantic, pedantic people despite everyone knowing the truth. Your point is?

Thing is he wasn't caught doing it, because the person that tried to catch him couldn't record any details accurately.

You'd still pay if your pcn came full of mistakes & if it wasn't a fine that you need to pay?

You haven't told me how old you are. With daft symbols to add to your 'argument' I'm even more intrigued.

So having being eyeballed by PC Plod, never mind CCTV he didn't do it because some details on a piece of paper were wrong? You are obviously a philosopher too.

I've already said if I was caught out and knew it I'd pay, I wouldn't say "ha ha you can't touch me because you got my address wrong!"

That's how I'd expect a 12 year old to react.

Which still doesn't answer the question I asked. He was guilty; he knows he was guilty; he openly admits he was guilty; why has he chosen not to pay?

Yes i did commit a minor traffic offence

Yes i was guilty ,and ive openly admitted that ,and never tried to deny my guilt, but i chose the route i did because technically i DIDNT commit the offence as the police put the WRONG NAME ,wrong address and wrong make of vehicle on the penalty ticket. So how can someone be prosecuted for an offence when the prosecution is actually against someone with a different name. ?

A technicality yes ,but a fundamental one which was at the core of the prosecution. If the police cannot get simple details correct when copying them from a driving license then they have no one to blame but themselves if someone uses a technicality to get the case thrown out .
