Johnh
I visited the Amraj Indian Restaurant at Crystal Peaks on New Years Eve with my wife and two friends. The deal was a £17.95 buffet, seated at 10pm (last sitting). The buffet is normally £11.95, but as it was New Years Eve I thought the extra £6 per head was reasonable. When I paid the bill of £112 for four people, inclusive of drinks! I noticed that a 15% service charge had been added to the bill. I've never been asked to pay a service charge before at the Amraj. I paid and left, afterwards thinking ... 15%, £14.72 service charge on a buffet, how strange??? ... especially when we served ourselves?? The waiters had cleared the place by 12.30!, what a cr*p night ... shan't be going there again.
scottf
You don't HAVE to pay the service charge- you should have asked them to take it off and re-issue you your bill!!! thats WAY over the top!
discovery
If you still have your bill I would go back to the restaurant to discuss it with the proprietor and ask for the 15% service charge back. And then don't go there again...
