PrimalJay
So, looks like they have had a slump in fashion sales according to the news, on the upside their food sales are up. http://style.uk.msn.com/socialvoices/blogpost.aspx?post=8e968ea1-0eb7-4dc4-8f62-b4004a7671f3 I think their fashion is on par with most high end department stores, bland and odd looking. Regarding stores like Debenhams which have high street concessions in giving customers more choice and creativity, these home brand department garments are something from a by gone era, dated and sufficiently useless in everyday life not forgetting the high prices. Let the rants begin...
alchresearch
No rant from me, I totally agree. Lovely food, awful clothes aimed at a literally dying market.
Strix
actually, arguably, M&S downfall was losing their 'high end' status, and trying to compete with Top Shop and the like. The manufacturing went abroad, and the rest is history that was over 15 years ago though
Darth Vader
Their Meadowhall branch seems to be getting worse and worse for clothes. My partner used to buy from their plus size range occasionally, but now they don't stock any of the larger sizes, you have to get them online. People like to try clothes on. The reason not many people were buying from the plus size range is that the clothes were generally very small sizes compared to elsewhere, and the choice was pretty poor, so their answer to that was to stop stocking the plus size range. That's crazy when there is so much demand for bigger sizes today.
