G4S cant secure Olympics

Recommended Posts

To be fair, the public sector is no better.

It now appears that the Immigration authorities have managed to recruit a bunch of Muppets.

A (very) junior minister was on the radio this morning and said that the temporary morons that they’ve employed for the Olympics were letting people in as EU citizens even though they had come from Algeria.

But in their defence, this oxygen-thief did say that it was “understandable, because Algeria sounds European, but it was totally unacceptable to let the guy in from Bangladesh!”

For the love of god please say you made the last bit up.

Downing Street said G4S's inability to provide enough security for the Olympics was "unfortunate".

In a statement, it warned the company should face consequences for its failure to fulfil its contract.

The prime minister's spokesman said a joint military-civilian security operation was always envisaged at the Olympics and "we are happy to change that balance."

The spokesman said the government would meet the cost of the redeployment of the troops but refused to say whether the London Organising Committee (Locog) would force G4S to recompense the taxpayer"

Most of those sacked servicemen still have a reserve commitment - the government could've called them up.

I think not!

I am on the reserve after 22 years service, and it does not state in the terms and conditions anything about covering domestic situations.

The Prime Minister spokesman is wrong. In 2005 the government clearly stated that the event would be a"civilian" managed event with civil Police volunteers and private security.
