clegane
Curiously the vast majority of companies providing services for or involved in construction etc... for the Olympics are not allowed to advertise their involvement. G4S were allowed to publicise their involvement. No doubt a job well done by them would have helped tremendously in building acceptance for their takeover of policing services. This was intended as a (politicised) stepping stone towards privatisation of our police. Thank god they screwed it up. That said it still probably won't prevent the Tories from trying to hand over policing to G4S. Hopefully those who have employed them will realise what a deeply sinister but hopelessly useless outfit they are. Sheff U and Rotherham U take note!!!! I1L2T3
Failure is acceptable, by Jeremy Hunt: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/news/9401166/Jeremy-Hunt-completely-normal-for-contractor-to-fail-to-deliver.html Is this right? Is failure acceptable when the safety of the public and tens of thousands of overseas visitors and athletes is at stake? Is Jeremy Hunt yet another idiot occupying a ministerial office? grafikhaus74
On the positive side, I've got slightly more confidence in the ability of the army to detect bombs and terrorists. What bombs and terrorists? I thought the (latest) 'reason' our troops were in Afghanistan was so that 'we wouldn't have terrorists on the streets of Britain.' Another well thought-out plan by our brainless politicians.

Half a dozen alleged terrorists arrested last week in the UK.

PeteMorris
Why would people who applied for jobs and were successful then decide not to turn up? Maybe they didn't understand English?....Or maybe they're paying a pittance in wages? I saw someone who was supposedly being trained in a supervisory capacity for sucurity at the games. They interviewed him, and he could hardly string more than 2 words together, and in the interview, I couldn't understand a word he said. If that's the calibre of their staff then god help us. They did say at the end of the interview that G4S said that the person interviewed would not be on the front line and interacting with the public! PrimalJay
200 million quid wiped off their price last week following this, also, their share price has dropped 9%, looks like this could be the beginning of the end for G4S. The head of Manchester Police said it is disgraceful that only 17 of the 56 G4S workers turned up for work on Monday and the cost for Manchester Police to provide cover for G4S's inefficiencies will be 30k a day.
