Whatever happened to the "savage cuts"?

Recommended Posts

Yes, this is my point that governments in general waste most of the money they collect in taxes, so surely a more efficient government that makes cuts is actually a good thing.

Regardless of who you blame for the recession, we have to accept that no government can pay out more money than it brings in in the long term so cutting services and jobs that are no longer needed makes sense.

You mean like the qwango's they've just closed, and made everyone redundant, with huge severance payouts. Then immediately created a new one and reinstated those they've just made redundant?

Makes perfect sense I suppose!

Since when has Sunderland CC been a quango? Is Hereford Enterprise Zone a quango? Genuine questions....

I don't really have a clue. I just know that it seems an awful waste of money. I expect it's not an isolated occurence either!

What's a waste of money?

If you think it's fine to make huge redundancy payments and then walk into a similar role the next day then that's fine, I'm not going to argue with you. You're simply nitpicking!

I strongly suspect the OP was only being sensationalist anyway. I think someone said 'trolling'.

I'm not nitpicking.. you said it was a waste of money I asked what was..If their contracts determine the redundancy pay (negotiated with whoever employed them ..Labour?) then I don't see a problem..if they didn't pay it then the resulting court case would no doubt be more expensive..the fact that they obtained employment somewhere else afterwards is irrelevant..or do you think that anyone paid redundancy shouldn't be eligible for other work ..? It happens in other walks of life..I've known quite a few people in my industry do the same..given a month's notice of redundancy and got themselves another job to start the day after the notice period ...

I can't be bothered to argue the point. You think it's perfectly acceptable, and no matter what I say, you'll continue to discredit my argument. Lets just agree to disagree, and leave it there.

It's off topic anyway!
