"Rape not the rapists' fault - It's the world's fault"

Recommended Posts

The evidence would suggest that it has decreased with the advent of internet porn, which kind of makes sense. There is less need for a sexually frustrated person to commit rape.

Then you have very little understanding of rape of you think that it's purely about sexual frustration.

You could do neither and instead show why he is wrong.

Some statistics or reports maybe?

Why? What good are statistics when you can counter them with "what about the unreported stuff".

I think (in Mr Smiths case) that the actual mention of porn and how it can impact different aspects of society..be it good or bad, and most of all somehow have a connection with sexual crime eats away at the thin glass protective bubble that Mr Smith lives in. It's ok Mr Smith..you don't have to justify your watching of it...it isn't a sin and it isn't to a point a crime...your safe...shhhhhh, there there.

I will but am posting from my phone at the moment. I need to be at a PC to pull up all the necessary research. However, as I said in an earlier post, my work with various specialists in the field of sexual violence evidenced that the vast majority of sex crimes are committed by men against women and girls. I am far more inclined to give this credence than MrSmith's spurious claims.

I remember reading articles a few years ago about studies that had been done into the correlation between internet pornography and rape. I'll try and find them.

Yet I'm the one that has posted a link to support my assertions.

Maybe we should introduce porn into the school curriculum considering the effects it has on the reduction rate in rape.

Maybe we should also introduce limitless bank accounts to reduce crime overall.

Thanks, Jen. I remember reading of a study in the US where immediately after men had viewed porn, their attitudes towards women changed for the worse and they were more likely to be sexually aggressive towards them as well as believe that rape was acceptable. That obviously does not translate as them going out to commit rape but highlights how porn can have a very negative effect.

I've found the studies I was thinking of (both US based - here and here) and both seem to suggest that the rise of internet porn has coincided with the fall of sexual crime.

However, as the articles about the studies below illustrate, there are many other factors to take into consideration when looking at the fall of reported sexual crimes.
