erebus Posted July 18, 2012 Share Posted July 18, 2012 I would expect a survey of this sensitivity that is going to accuse 25% of men as being rapists to at least be able to tell use the most likely age group and ethnicity of people being raped and the relationship of the alleged rapist to the accuser and the circumstances in which they were raped. For all we know from the survey it is one particular ethnic group that said yes to being raped whilst the rest said no and if it’s anonymous the accuser may have reason to lie. It’s this kind of bad survey that demeans rape and almost makes rape appear normal, for someone that has considered rape it tells them that its normal and they won’t be caught. So you want to know which age group, and ethnicity of people being raped...sounds like some sort male fantasy wrapped up as genuine interest. Your past posts suggest you have a little bit of an agenda, or is that personal problem? You are not interested in facts it seems..... just salivating like a normal male over potential victims, psychological masturbation by any measure!. Suffragette1 Posted July 18, 2012 Share Posted July 18, 2012 The problem when stats of this crime are published that state 1 in 4 women have been raped cause most people to disbelieve them and so minimises the impact of the perception of the extent of the crime. Sensational reporting does not help victims. Rape is a terrible crime and if stats are to be published they need to be coroborated and verified with evidence. A lot of people disbelieve women who have been raped regardless. Are you implying that some of the respondents to the survey lied? I hope not. This just highlights how widespread sexual violence is. As I said earlier, how many men and women on here recognise the scenario where a male has pressurised his female partner into sex, when she repeatedly said 'no'? If he ignores her and continues, that is rape. Just because he has has sex with her before and didn't knock her about does not mean that it isn't rape. This topic merits a serious discussion and throwing around wild accusations undermines the gravity of the issue. There are without doubt a lot of sick individuals out there but I have seen nothing in Mr Smith's posts to back up these assertions. I also refuse to believe that the majority of men are potential rapists/child abusers. The majority are good and even if they have carnal desires about loads of women, will respect the boundaries. The majority are good and even if they have carnal desires about loads of women, will respect the boundaries. i agree and to tar all males with basically the same brush is totally wrong. as you say this is a very serious issue confined on the whole to a relativley small sick section of the male population! any man that get pleasure from forcing themselves on to someone be it man /women/child is very sick! what is the point? power? i have no idea. rapists and the like must be born with some urge that they cant control, in my opinion should be locked away for life. of course we have carnal desires but normal people dont act on them if they are not reciprocated and to say that porn and films etc create rapists is plain mad! we all know there are some serious sickos out there.......maybe some on here with reverse agendas??:suspect: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
