Halibut
They also eat food, imbibe liquids and breath air. Should we ban all of those too? I'm not suggesting banning anything.
mj.scuba
But men are far less likely to be the victim of sex crimes. More women are raped than men and more girls are the victims of child sex abuse than boys. Sex crimes aside, you claim that porn normalises certain views. As porn is participated in by both men and women, why do you only claim it normalises the view that women are always up for it (which I don't believe anyway) but not the same for men? Perhaps women are gaining a normalised view that any man will be up for it with them, in the same way that you claim men are?

Isn't it possibly that because men are less likely to report it that we don’t know the true scale of the problem.

Porn generates a variety of unrealistic (and sometimes damaging) perceptions about sex - this applies to both men and women. The number of false perceptions supported and generated by porn is enormous.
Suffragette1
What purpose is it serving then if it devalues women? Isn't that purpose questionable. Not all porn devalues women.
Halibut
Not all porn devalues women. True, but the vast majority of material out there devalues women at best and at worst renders them utterly debased, objectified and abused.

Which i'm sure the vast majority of men who view porn would not regard as appropiate representations for their wives, mothers or daughers! Are double standards being held if thats the case? Chris_Sleeps
I agree with erebus I don't. She, and erebus will be a she, has possibly done the worst job of phrasing a point ever. It's coated in 15 layers of insult, and when people respond she adds another varnish to finish the job.
epiphany
Not all porn devalues women. True that. There is some porn out there that values women so highly they are portrayed as sexually and intellectually superior, domineering goddesses. ...so I've heard anyway.
