Roberts/Blackett Family - Watery Lane - 1940's to 1960's and beyond

Greetings All,

 

I am re-searching my family history and have discovered that I have distant relatives who lived on Watery Lane, Upperthorpe around 1941 onwards. For starters; Minnie Roberts, who lived at; 2 Court 6 House, Watery Lane in 1942. Minnie had 2 children; Patricia (d.o.b. 15/7/42) and Martin R (d.o.b. 1941) who were born as Roberts but were known as Blacketts after taking their their step fathers/fathers name in 1943 when Minnie married Walter Blackett in 1943. Minnie passed away in 1960 aged 43. Walter Blackett had possibly moved to Preston by 1965.

 

The daughter of Minnie Roberts:; Patricia Roberts/Blackett may have married Peter Wheywell in 1975 and lived at 37 Southey Green Road where she may have passed away in 1998. Martin R Roberts/Blackett married in 1960 to Carol Howe and gave his surname as Roberts/Blackett on his marriage certificate.

 

Do any forum members recollect the Roberts/Blackett family or their relatives that lived in Upperthorpe from the 1940's to the mid-60’s? As far as I understand Watery Lane and its surrounding area was demolished around the late fifties so I assume the Roberts/Blacketts were left to their own devices to re-home themselves or was there a managed re-housing programme run by the city council that re-located residents of planned demolition areas of Sheffield in the late 50’s/ early 60’s?

 

To summarise:

 

Minnie Roberts d.o.b. circa 1917 - d.o.d. - 1960 aged 43, married Walter Blackett in 1943.

 

Minnie had 2 children, born as Roberts in 1941 and 1942, Martin R and Patricia.

 

Both children took the surname; Blackett

 

Martin R married in 1960 and stated his surname as Roberts/Blackett

 

Patricia Blackett married Peter Wheywell in 1975 and possibly lived at 37 Southey Green Rd.

 

Patricia Wheywell passed away in 1998.

 

Martin R Blackett and Peter Wheywell may still be alive but their whereabouts are unknown to me at this time.

Hi my name is zoe my great grandmother was called Minnie my grandmother is called carol her maiden name is howe just wounded if she was still alive carol had 2 children to martin Richard Roberts blackett, there names are called gwen pratica Roberts blackett now married called stokes carols son called martin Richard roberts blackett who has found me after 20odd years and found his sister gwen now we are looking for carol if any body can help please I would love to meet carol who is my grandmother if she is still alive.

I had relatives living on Watery Lane from the 1930s to when the lane was demolished.

They moved to Oxford street flats and I seem to remember others were offered places in the other new blocks of flats.

carol could have remarried in 1977 and possibly had another child to some one else all I no that she has had 2 children to a forma husband called martin r blackett her daughter is called gwen patricia blackett and a son who was named after his dad martin Richard blackett gwen was born in 1960 and martin was born in 1961 gwen was past to live with the fletchers from Sheffield and martin was fostered to a family called merits there is 17 month between gwen and martin... carol howe there mother could be still alive and I would love to find her for my uncle martin and my mother gwen sake if anybody has any information and would like to get intouch are knows anythink off her were abouts it would be a great help but if some body knows carlo and she dosnt wont us to get in touch with her then I will leave her and let her be but I would really like to get in touch with after all she is my grandmother who I would love to meet...

I've always known about Martin & Gwen as they are my half brother & sister but I've never known much about them as I come from my dads second marriage & he never had a relationship with them.
