Does anyone know a safe cracker?

Recommended Posts

Thats a seriously old and rusty safe. The hinges though would be easy to attack and remove with an angle grinder I would expect - it all deppends on how good the unternal locking is on the door - but it doesnt look anythign like a serious quality safe.

I bought a derelict house a couple of years ago and I'm slowly knocking it into shape. In an outbuilding I came across a safe made by Frederick Baxter Birmingham. Its about 70cms tall and weighs a ton. It clanks when you roll it so probably has stuff inside.

Unfortunately it's locked and I have no key.

Does anyone know someone who can open it or can supply Sentex. I'm out beyond Bakewell.

Ill get in it for you if you don't mind the safe being damaged. Just get a pick on the back of it.

I haven't known one yet that you couldn't peal the back off (said a bloke I know).

It's all a bit disturbing really. I was recommended to contact a "specialist" who turned up with a rod with a knob on the end. I wasn't allowed to watch too much but after about 45 minutes the safe was open. It cost me £150 which includes him taking the empty safe away overhauling the lock and providing new keys.

I can't help thinking for something supposedly "safe" it really wasn't much effort to get it opened.

I still think I should have used Semtex.

I doubt either would have worked. The safe has an inner safe made from 15 mm thick plate. The door has 2 large bolts around 5 mm by 50 mm that slide out both sides of the door to anchor it without the hinge pins.

Anyhow its now open and I will have new keys shortly if anyone wants to buy an old safe.

Your wrong in your assumption, I have seen safes of your description opened up.

A pal of mine phoned me last Saturday morning saying he'd lost the keys to his safe, could I help.

5 mins later with a decent drill bit and I was in.

I really regret not borrowing my wife's stetherscope (sp) and going at it that way, his face would have been a picture!!!!!!
