Guest brownd95
Hi everyone, Ive got a VW Bora x reg 1.6 16v aus engine Its been misfiring for a while now. Changed coil pack, ht lead, spark plugs, lambda sensors, oil Keeps misfiring on cyclinder 3 tried putting some redex additive last week with a full tank, someone told me that my piston rings may be sticking. it used to misfire every day, but for the last 7 days it did not misfire once yey, thought redex had sorted it UNTILL today...... Got back home and thought might have a look at the engine bay.. noticed some pink crystal dry residue all around the area just below the coil pack.( right side of engine) Could this be the redex stuff leaking out?? Could this be coolant?? Could it be causing the misfire?? Please help anyone.... I have pics if anyone can help but needs more detail Thanks, Brownd95
Greengeek
Sounds like coolant to me. What colour is the coolant?
Guest brownd95
The coolant is also pink. but the level still seems to be the same as it has been for some time now. Between MIN and MAX Thats what made me think it could be some sort of fuel leak as i had used REDEX last week. And i have once again got a misfire on cyclinder 3. namtaB
Have you had a diagnostic run on the car ? specifically the ecu ??
Guest brownd95
ive got a code reader myself and its saying fault on cyclinder 3.
namtaB
Thats all well and done but a Diagnostic from a reputable place will not only tell you that it is misfiring on cylinder 3 but what is causing the mis-fire... Maybe time to bite the bullet and take it to Gilders...
