damophoto
Does anyone know the best place to have a Ford Focus 2002/3 diagnosed for a reasonable price?? The engine management light is on but the car seems to be driving ok. If anyone knows of a mobile diagnostic that'd be even better. Ford seem to want me to leave an arm and a leg with the car before they'll look at it! Cheers in advance.

1fish2fish56
We always take out 12 year old focus to edgedale garage 665 abbeydale road 0114 2553844. I don't know if they run a full diagnostics but they have cured all manner of faults for our car including one long running fault that 2 other garages failed to cure. Alan Scott
My Father in law had a ford mondeo, his engine mangement light came on and stayed on but the car was running fine. The garage said it was just the sensors that occasionly play up and whilst ever it was running fine just to ignore it. He ran it like this for about 3 years and it never missed a beat. The garage said just to disconnect the battery and it would go off, he did this a few times and it did go off but kept coming back on after a week or so. Remember if you do this youll need your radio code.

ging viking
Get your self on ebay and buy a obd2 scanner / code reader for around £15 brand-new and it will bring up the fault code which is all explained in a manual supplied. You will then be able to delete the fault which will turn off the engine management light, you will need to fix the problem that the obd2 scanner has brought up or the engine management light will reappear. There are loads of people on here who have no clue about mechanics on here who are selling this service from buying a scanner off of ebay for just over a tenner so beware ! Remember if you do this youll need your radio code. This is also true. 9/10 it is a sensor that has gone, rather than an actual part e.g. the oxygen sensor in the exhaust is a favourite. It might be something like a coil pack though, which won't affect performance much if you've just lost 1 out of 4 of them (though are worth replacing for £50 odd).
