Is my clock silver, stamped?

Recommended Posts

I was given a clock when my grandad past away, I don`t know where he got it from or anything about it really but there are 3 stamps at the base of the clock and i was wondering what they meant..whether it was silver?

I have searched the internet but to be honest i have not got a clue! i was wondering if anybody knew what the stamps meant please...i would be ever so grateful!

I tried to upload photo but my camera will not pick the markings up right! so i will try my best to explain them...

there is 3 in line with each other...

1st...it is a diamond shape with a circle inside and a triangle inside the circle with the letter B over the letters pc.

2nd...a diamond shape stamp with a capital c inside the shape of the stamp.

3rd...again a diamond shaped stamp with some sort of....in fact i cannot explain it! haha

anyway, the clock is a silver colour with a gold clock face dial that can be removed from the base, it says quartz on the clock face.

I hope someone can help x

I wasn't aware until five seconds ago that pewter is hallmarked, but I assume that the hallmark is what you're looking at. An antique valuer or jeweller would be able to confirm that it's a genuine hallmark and tell you what information it contains, but I imagine this item has more sentimental value than it would have real value.

If you want to try to work out the marks for yourself, a page like this would be a starting point.

Yes it does, i just wanted to know the age and a bit more about it because my grandad never said anything about it.

The first is the Ass. of British Pewter Craftsmans marks, whihc means it's later than 1971. I don't know what the rest will be I'm afraid, but it's not silver, it's pewter.
