BARRY DODDS

The Geordie nervebag returns to one of his favourite clubs. Doddsy has forged an enviable reputation for himself over the past few years, charming audiences nationwide, with his uniquely tailored combination of disarming wit and wry, down-to-earth observational humour.

Barry has taken the national circuit by storm, with his mix of surprisingly dark and irrepressibly cheeky material.

Fascinated by stand-up from an early age, Barry took to the stage at the tender age of 21, and is now a firm audience favourite at clubs such as Highlight, The Stand, The Frog and Bucket, The Last laugh, XS Malarkey and many more. In 2006 Barry jetted off to Luxembourg where he performed a solo show - and became the first ever comedian to perform on Luxembourg TV and in 2007 appeared in the prestigious Avalon Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Fringe.

“Hugely enjoyable…a ton of great stories…one to watch” – The Guardian

"Razor sharp humour" – Metro

"winning friends with his energy and spirit…" – Chortle

"Very impressive" - Jasper Carrot

KEVIN DEWSBURY

Kevin is from Cheshire, though often mistaken as being from Yorkshire due to his ridiculous northern accent. He performs all over the UK comedy clubs, universities and festivals.

Kevin is also an actor recently appearing as a Circus Clown in Martin Scorsese‘s recent film ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret‘. He is currently working on a sketch comedy project ’Bungo Menebla’ and his new solo show ‘In…sane’ based on the real life events of suffering (then recovering from) a nervous breakdown.

Slickness and sheer talent - Time Out

An excellent comedian, one of the most underrated comics on the circuit - Toby Foster BBC Sheffield and star of Phoenix Nights

A real treat of understated deadpan humour - Three Weeks, Edinburgh

A wide comic repertoire that veers effortlessly between meandering tales, killer one-liners and hilarious accents - Pennine Lancashire

He has a touch of early Eddie Izzard about him, both in his demeanour, delivery and look and his understated, self-deprecating humour was the perfect foil to the comics who followed him - Northampton Chronicle & Echo

NIGE

Don’t miss Nige at his favourite comedy venue (well the one he hasn’t been barred from). The original and still one of the finest character acts in the UK. Keith Carter began his stand up career in Liverpool's Orgasmic Comedy Club. Although he was booed off that night, he soon returned with the idea that the audience would like his gags better if told by someone else. And so his first character, "Nige" was born.

Nige might look like your garden variety shell-suited scally, but beneath this vacant stereotype lies a wealth of intelligent off-beat gags and keenly observed parodies.

Keith Carter is a notable talent on the Comedy scene right now and with a growing repetoire of strange and acutely observed characters to play with, isn't that reminiscent of a certain Mr Coogan, some years back?

Capital of Culture judge, Sir Jeremy Isaacs was quoted in the news as saying, ‘He helped Liverpool win the bid,’ after seeing Carter’s comic creation and Liverpool cult hero, ‘Nige’ perform at the cultural bid show for the judges.

‘A character comedian of rare skill.’ The Guardian

‘Surely this man will have his own show in a few years time.’ Chortle

‘Give this man a sitcom.’ Edinburgh Evening News

'Nige For Mayor Of Liverpool?' Liverpool Echo

As Barry Dodds is stuck In Edinburgh we have been lucky enough to get Dave Twentyman to mc this Thursday. If you’ve not seen Dave he’s worth the admission price alone. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve only gone an added the wonderful John Newton to the bill for no extra charge.

DAVE TWENTYMAN

Effortlessly funny and quick on his feet, Dave Twentyman endears himself to the toughest of audiences as an act or compere.

"Very funny, lovely young man" XFM Manchester

"Twentyman took the show by the horns & did an amazing job, give that man a medal"

The Comedy Club Hahaheehee

"He deflects the heckles with wit as well as making sure the acts get a rousing reception"

Lancashire Life Magazine

"Fantastic & Friendly" The Northern Echo

JOHN NEWTON

John began his comedy career in 2003. He fast became known for his inventive writing, covering a massive spectrum of subjects from the surreal to the hard hitting, yet still managing to remember that “the gag” comes first. In that respect, he’s an old fashioned gag teller/writer and proud of it.

In 2007 John started work on the Cruise Ship Circuit and in 2008 alone clocked up an impressive 24 Cruises, working on ships such as The Ventura, The Arcadia, The Oceana and Ocean Village 1 & 2. Performing to a more “mainstream audience” proved a challenge that John relished & he soon became a firm favourite of passengers and crew alike. Travelling from continent to continent has given John a wealth of experience to draw from and makes for an interesting yet hilarious set.

John has stirred away from progressing down the media route with radio and TV appearances preferring to perform live stand-up across the globe in places like: Abu Dhabi, Alicante, Amsterdam, Bahrain, Barcelona, Burma, The Caribbean, The Channel Islands, Dubai, Estonia, Hamburg, Ireland, Kenya, Munich, Russia and Stockholm.

"John sucks you into his world with obscurely brilliant comedy” The Comedy Vibe

“Slick & professional, a gag teller in the traditional mode, Newton is fast of mind and sharp of tongue. Worked the audience skilfully and professionally like a craftsman should” The Comedy Pad

“ John Newton does not need gimmicks stage characters or personas as he has something of more value to any comedian, good old fashioned solid gags” Funny.co.uk.
