Conflict in Syria.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone really understand why this civil war appears to be getting worse.I keep hearing little snippets on the news about the crisis but with the Olympic Games dominating the headlines they're isn't that much information. The PM met Putin on Thursday we heard they're were to be talks between them about the crisis, but nothing has been mentioned about the outcome, the media seem to have just focused on Mr Putin's interest in Judo.

Now Khofi Annan has resigned and says he despairs of the situation, and the latest is that China is blaming the West, why?

In the meantime masses of civilians are being killed including children, and they're is a shortage of food.

Lets hope something is resolved very soon, because like it or not its certain Britain will be involved,we always are.

I doubt if we'll be involved this time. We're in the middle of a recession, the USA isn't looking to get involved militarily, people are tired of British soldiers getting killed for no obvious reason and Blair isn't PM anymore.

Well i hope we arn't, but if the US did get involved, its likely we would follow, and the US may not wish to intervene, but when it comes to asserting power, they are not going to let Russia and China appear to have the upper hand.

Problem is that no one really knows who the rebels are. There have been some reports that members of Al Qaeda are fighting alongside the rebels so pouring in weaponry and aid might just backfire in a big way down the line.

As for China and Russia they will be remembered for doing absolutely nothing and supplying Assad at the same time with the weaponry that has so far slaughtered thousands of his people

Many of whom are military or paramilitary and are going around slaughtering other Syrians, too.

It might have started out as an Arab Spring 'rebellion' but Syria is now in a state of Civil War.

A number of Western Countries have been 'slagged off' for intervening in Iraq and - if you're right - Russia and China will be slagged off for not intervening in Syria.

I don't suppose any outside country - whether it intervenes or not - can win. But the cost (in manpower and materiel) to Russia and China will probably be rather less than it was to the West.

When two groups of people decide to kill each other it doesn’t really matter what weapons they have, or who supplied them. Not supplying them with weapons wouldn’t change the fact they are going to kill each other. Give them swards, bows and arrowed and the conflict will just last longer with just as many deaths.

indeed it wont, BUT, it does make a difference, AND makes us morally corrupt theres businesses and individuals selling arms to the worst regimes in the world, greed

then when it comes back to bite us on the ass we complain
