Another mass shooting in the UK

Recommended Posts

That sadly is the very tragic part of it all. It has happened that in some shootings the father of the child shot was a gang member himself. You'd think that these people would have a bit more common sense than that of a baboon but obviously they dont.

There's not much to be done about it anyway. If they didn's have guns they'd be using knives, crowbars, lead pipe and lengthss of chain on each other

So perhaps we do care, and it's not such a good idea to just let them get on with it then?

Knives, lead pipe, chains, etc, aren't as deadly as guns though as they're not designed to kill. They don't take out as many innocent bystanders either and there's no National Lead Pipe Association.

If your suggesting the National Rifle Association have anything to do with it then that's a waste of time.

There's no NRA in the UK nor the right to bear arms so why is it that gang members have guns anyway?

That's why the Los Angles police department have a gang suppression unit which has been very successful overall. However, gang membership is a culture among young Hispanics and blacks and "cultures' of that kind are not so easily dealt with.

In the meantime these shootings go on occasionally and I for one wont lose any sleep except for a feeling of sadness when an infant is involved as I have three wonderful little grand kids of my own

Is this success the reason they only have double or triple the number of murders in LA as there are in London, despite only being half the size?

Fewer gang members have guns here, because we have tighter controls on them. Only hardened criminals & people licensed for them have guns, rather than every petty thief. They know it's 5 years for an illegal gun, but maybe community service for burglary or car theft. We can't stop every illegal firearm, but we do a much better job of keeping them out of the hands of people who want to harm us than the USA does.

Police investigating the shooting of four Merseyside teenagers believe the attack was part of a feud between two rival gangs.

A 17-year-old boy was reported to have been shot in Akenside Street in Bootle just after 23:30 BST on Saturday.

Soon afterwards two other 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old boy were treated for shotgun injuries. The youngest remains in hospital in intensive care.

Police believe the incident could have been sparked by the theft of a bike.

They are linking the shootings to previous attacks in the Bootle area.

Det Ch Supt Paul Richardson, of Merseyside Police, said the four were shot at from a railway line above Akenside Street.

'Trivial'

He said: "We are receiving information from the community that this very possibly is over the theft of a scrambler or trials bike.

"That a fallout as trivial as that has led to these events, well it's unbelievable really."
