Policing tactics at the Olympics?

Recommended Posts

Well, it was always obvious that the Police were going to be very careful - err on the safe side, perhaps, but: Olympics: Man held after bottle thrown on to 100m track "A man has been arrested after a bottle was thrown on to the track seconds before the start of the men's 100m final at the Olympic Stadium...

Nobody was injured and the event was not disrupted, police said.

The suspected is being held in police custody at an east London police station on suspicion of causing a public nuisance..."

I wonder how long they'll hold him for?

Litter is the blight of Britain, so they should set an example and sentence him to a life of litter picking. 5 hours per week for the rest of his life whilst wearing a bright pink t-shirt with the wards I am a litter lout and this is my punishment.

Yes, litter. There are far too many resources spent fighting drugs, murder, anti-social behaviour, etc, etc. Why don't people realise that litter is the blight of Britain.

I spend a good part of my day out walking or driving, litter is everywhere spoiling the look of our streets and country side, what I haven’t notice whilst out is walking are drugs dealers/addict., murders, anti-social people laying about on the streets, making the place look untidy. But if it would make you feel better the people on litter duty can also put them in the bin if they see any lying around.

Policing at the Olympics has been excellent. People walking around with huge smiles and the police are helping to generate that 'good feeling'.

Some idiot throws a bottle onto the track and gets dealt with in exactly the same manner as someone who might throw a bottle at a football match. It's a complete non-story and won't affect in the slightest the success of everything associated with London 2012.
