Tax evasion smokescreen

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed the disclosure by the goverment of 200 tax evaders (altogether less than 1 billion) doesn't contain any top earners.

Is this just a smoke screen to take attention away from the top earners who with their accountants are the real cuprits who are legaly able to cost this country Billions each year?

And all the folk who are in prison are really innocent whilst all the mass murderers roam free.

More to the point, some of them are already convicted of criminal offences but fled- so I don't have a problem with publicising them.

But as to those merely under suspicion/investigation, whether or not awaiting trial, how dare HMRC publicise their cases. Were one of them to appear in court, how could he/she conceivably receive a fair trial? The obvious defence is 'prejudicial material was disclosed'.

There you are the government has succeeded, you've been thrown off the scent of the big fish, somebody in Westminster will be getting their backs patted already.

Tax dodging isn't a new phenomenon thats occured since this coalition government came into being...were you so vocal about the top-end tax dodging during the years Labour were in? what about banking scullduggery? is that the coalitions fault too??

You want to associate just the Tories with these things, but it falls deaf on less moronic ears.

True, tax dodging has always gone on, it isn't party political, but now people's attention is being drawn to it and how much is actually lost. This is in order to counter the 'divide and conquer' tactic of insinuating that the unemployed are all skivers and scroungers and on the fiddle.

One thing's for sure, tax dodgers tend to be rich and greedy whereas the unemployed are on their uppers, and trying to make ends meet.

What really surprises me is how quickly the MPs expenses scandal has been forgotten and why only 6 people went on trial, out of hundreds all up to the same thing. And still they get away with it.

I suppose it was because the CPS looked at the facts and found 6 cases of people commiting fraud and a load of folks merely taking advantage of the loose system as it operated at the time.

Not so- unless you meant that HMG wanted an excuse not to prosecute and 'arranged' for HMRC to give a defence to those accused.

So do I take it that you're in favour of tax evasion by the upper class/earners who get away with not paying Billions of pounds each year in tax due to a system set up by the wealthier element to benefit themselves.

Once again the attention has been taken away from the biggest tax avoiders/evaders (they must love you).
