Plans to knock down the Elm Tree pub, Manor Top

Recommended Posts

There was 2 rooms at the back, when you went in from the front the snooker table was to your left, 2 small areas to your right and then through a door into the another room which also had its own door to the front on the right hand side,

I wouldnt say it was rough it just had character, like The Byards, Manor Hotel and The Springwood

You are dead right, the Manor Hotel was quite rough way back. I used to walk my then girlfriend home past it and there was very often a scrap going off .Iwas a regular in the doorway of the Elm Tree when my parents and grandparents were regulars back in the 40s, that was in the days before kids were kidnapped and assaulted.A bag of crisps and a bottle of pop and I was quite content.

I also remember fetching beer from the outsales of the Manor Hotel in a Tizer bottle, they just stuck a paper label across the top to make sure you didn't drink any. Fat chance !

I really can't see how they're going to build a petrol station on this site.Where will the exit and entrance be? The one way system is complicated enough as it is what about the houses next to it and Elm Tree Court houses at the side.

Edited.... sorry, I posted links to the drawings at the planning dept. Whilst you can still navigate to them through the council site, they appear to block the link from here within the hour. :(

Started demolition, I was watching it for half an hour lol. I was speaking to the manager at asda and have found out it is going to be an asda petrol station. The old tesco has now been accepted by the council to be a pound land, and the old nisa will be a st lukes hospice charity shop.
