Why break a butterfly on a wheel

That poor girl, so sad :(

Bet she's so scared.

I did wonder whether these people were all insane, or whether they feared their leaders so much that they were prepared to do such things, but the fact is that no decent person would EVER do this sort of thing. I shall have nightmares about this poor girl now. Her persecutors are no better than Ian Brady! And all for a book...

HALLELUJAH!!!!

the vast majority arent out to take over the world, theyre not out to destroy christianity

theyre normal people like me and you, getting on with their daily lives (which just happens to follow some religious teachings)

Well, actually, you're wrong. In other countries, Christianity has been effectively wiped-out by Islamists.

Probably more so, because she's just a little girl with learning difficulties, and not free to leave!

Probably , maybe, it's all conjecture. She has downs so probably , maybe she doesn't have the same concept of her sins in the same way you or I would. She and the family are in protective custody. The 600 certainly are not and their lives could quite easily be at risk. Probably, maybe.

I have never committed a sin.

Sadly, people have a tendency to take religion literally; and miss the whole point.

It's like having a book that says, "human beings are the most precious thing ever". Then making a religion out of this book; and valuing the book more than human beings...

Some little girl draws flowers in the book and they're all like 'kill burn kill destroy the human child'.

Okay, I have so many points to raise on this one.

Firstly, the details of the story are so vaguely presented on that BBC news article. The Pakistani authorities have denied that she has a learning difficulty, yet a human rights activist who went to see her in prison denies this. This human rights activist is by no means a specialist in child psychology. The BBC have only credited with the sentence, "it is believed she may have Down's Syndrome". Furthermore, it is also believed that she could be up to 13 years old.

Secondly, the blasphemy laws in Pakistan have been around for decades. What we really have to question is why it takes until a case arises that concern is raised. Why weren't the fascists shouting about this in the 70s, 80s, 90s? Because, as with all small minded bigots, they have to have the 'facts' presented to them on a platter, and don't actually bother to go out, read, and do their own research.

Also, you'll remember how Pakistan had/has a major ally in America. Why isn't America and the government there saying anything about these things? Have American foreign policy-makers been that blind for 40 years?

I think it needs to be understood that this is really rather more of a culture rather than a religion.

I'm sure most Muslims would agree that this is disgusting behaviour and would damn it with the highest condemnation and should that be the case they will speak out against this behaviour of hatred and intolerance.
