Rob Haslam
Calling all walkers. Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity have organised a torchlit night walk through Ecclesall Woods to be held on Saturday 15 September, 2012. Registration begins at 6.30pm at the Graves Woodland Discovery Centre off Abbey Lane. The 4.5km walk starts at 7.30pm. I have devised the route and will be leading it. Families are welcome. Everyone gets a free torch. There will be toilets, food and drink, and entertainment all through the evening, including on the walk itself. The adult entry fee is £10, children aged 5 - 14, £6. Children under 5 free, plus reduced-price family entry. There is also the opportunity to help the charity by purchasing a signed copy of my book Walking South Yorkshire at the discount price of £9, with £3 from every sale going to Weston Park. For entry forms and full details visit http://www.wphcancercharity.org.uk/light or ring 0114 226 5370. Anyone willing to become a volunteer marshal should also ring the above number. Please help your local cancer hospital raise vital funds, while enjoying a night out with family and friends. There won't be much of a view and you might bump into the odd tree, but it's all in a good cause.
