What an utter insult to our paralympians .

From their web site;

"Atos is an international information technology services company with annual 2011 pro forma revenue of EUR 8.5 billion and 74,000 employees in 48 countries. Serving a global client base, it delivers hi-tech transactional services, consulting and technology services, systems integration and managed services. With its deep technology expertise and industry knowledge, it works with clients across the following market sectors: Manufacturing, Retail, Services; Public, Health & Transports; Financial Services; Telecoms, Media & Technology; Energy & Utilities."

Atos is contracted by the government to 'test' disabled people to see if they really are fit for work. For this they get paid £100 million a year. Unfortunately many hundreds of disabled people have had the audacity to die soon after being found fit for work.

On Tuesday the 28th August, UKUncut Sheffield will be paying a visit to the Sheffield office of Atos at 12.30.

Couldn't agree more Mister M. Atos are a money making machine sponsored by our government to reduce the numbers claiming ESA and DLA etc... People are now realising that this government are out to persecute the genuine disabled claimants to cut costs just like they have done with the Paralympic games. Lets see what the opening ceremony brings.

Firstly I agree with the OP's sentiments it is discriminiation. Yet to quote EAS and cuts to DLA is different all together. These olympians despite their disability are working hard which should be admired. Those that Atos are targeting arnt doing that. So while these olympians are doing jumps, swimming lengths etc these people are saying they are disabled and cannot work. The paraolympics shows one thing a disability should not be a barrier to people doing hard work and I have utmost respect for these paraolympians.

How do the mentally handicapped cheat at the Paralympics, seeing as thier not eligable to compete?

I think you'll find that they are eligible to compete in certain sports.

Paralympic cheating is in some ways even worse than the doping that goes on in the regular Olympics with athletes breaking their own bones in paralysed limbs in order to increase their blood pressure which helps mboost their performance.

Have a read here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating_at_the_Paralympic_Games

I was reading about the blind football where the ball makes a noise and three sighted people can play in each team but they have to wear blindfolds. If it wasn't on the BBC site I would have thought someone was making it up.

whats the point of allowing 3 sighted players per team if they cant see? :huh:

Wheres the coverage that the able bodied Olympic games got ? Why do the paralympic games get 'SILVER' torches and at that, only a few, lit on a few high peaks that are then transferred to bloody Davey lamps to take to London ? Nothing like reminding disabled athletes that they are second class is there ?

Our disabled Olympic athletes put in as much work (and more) as the able bodied ones as they do not get the sponsorship or the media coverage. Its a disgrace....

Lets see if there is as much 'hoo hah' for our disabled athletes in the media as there was for the likes of Jessica Ennis or Usain Bolt.

:rant::rant::rant:

Why didn't they host both events together. Ok able bodied and disabled may not compete in the same race together etc, but at least in the same venue at simlar times. That way its one gams, and not two seperate events.
