Is This Woman For Real?

Recommended Posts

Should a man also have the right to have a say in who his wife donates eggs to? Just asking like...

As long as they're not eggs she bought at a supermarket, then yes if the husband has to get consent as well to cast his seed in laboratories.

I don't think she's being unreasonable. If one partner died and the surviving one thought they were going to get a nice inheritance only to find there were quite a few previously unknown children scattered about then I think it's best for both sides to be in agreement.

But not in law...

What's next, its illegal to spread your seed in more conventional ways... albeit, cheating...

Is it entirely unreasonable?

If he donated it 'draught' she could divorce him for it.

If one of the women he impregnates (or who is impregnated using his sperm) wants his assistance in supporting her get, what then?

If he dies and 20 children he never knew he had claim against his estate, what then?

If (worst case) one of the children born to a woman using his sperm meets and marries a child born to another woman using his sperm - half-brother and half-sister - what then?

2 heads? 6 fingers? Hare Lip? Some other (more serious) congenital defect?

If thats approved, what about abortion where the mans opinion/wishes are not even counted?

"The wife of a man who donated his sperm without her knowledge is campaigning for married men to require their spouse's consent for the process.

The woman, who is in her 30s and lives in Surrey with her husband and son, says the possibility any children - of whom there could be as many as 20 - may want to trace their biological father in 18 years' time, would 'almost feel like introducing the offspring of an adulterous relationship'.

She argues that in married relationships, sperm donation should be a decision both parties are involved in; she says in marriage, sperm should be considered some kind of 'marital asset'."

You couldn't make it up, could you?

I was sure I had read about Eggs being fertilised without sperm and a quick Google confirms that I had, its make one wonder why eleven years on they don't appear to have perfected it.

10 July, 2001

Scientists in Australia have found a way to fertilise eggs using genetic material from any cell in the body - and not just sperm.

December 14, 2004

Making Sperm in the Lab:

Last year, scientists proved that they could not only create sperm in a petri dish, but also use that sperm to fertilize a mouse egg.

Maybe one day donating sperm won't be necessary, even we men could become obsolete.:o

Different thing totally, in that the donation is potentially creating a problem for the future, where the other action is negating one.

I can see the woman's point. He should have discussed it with her first.

Those take more looking after than a petrol mower. :hihi:

I've had goats and geese (in an attempt to make mowing grass easier.)

The goat was friendly (provided the dog didn't annoy her - in which case there was a head-butting competition and he lost.) Although she would eat tender young grass (and flowers) she left the rest alone.

The Geese did a pretty good job. - But for every pound of grass you put into a goose, you get 3 or 4 lb of goose poop out. Same colour as the grass - but it does make a mess if you track it into the house. :hihi:
