From the report;

In an additional 34 per cent of all drug poisoning deaths, the death certificate mentions more

than one specific drug. Where more than one drug is mentioned, it is not possible to tell which

was primarily responsible for the death

• Where more than one drug is mentioned on a death certificate the death will be counted in more

than one category in Table 3. For example, if both heroin and cannabis are mentioned, the death

will be recorded once under heroin and once under cannabis. Therefore the numbers for different

substances cannot be added together to give a total number of deaths

• Approximately 30 per cent of all drug-related poisoning deaths also contain a mention of alcohol

or long-term alcohol abuse (for example, cirrhosis) in addition to a drug

Which just makes a mockery of the statistics.

If you smoked a joint (nicotine and cannabis), drank a beer whilst taking prescription amphetamines from the doctor and beat yourself to death with a hamburger bun, that would count as four drug related deaths. Potentially 5 if the burger bun had poppy seeds on it!

But cannabis contains many compounds; THC, CBD, THVG etc. etc. So anybody dying with a trace of cannabis in their system, their death should be recorded as a few 1000 drug related deaths?

As far as I'm aware there has been no recorded case of someone dying from cannabis. But then its the same with smoking tobacco as its never recorded as death from smoking but a smoking related death.

I've smoked since 8 and I can still post on forums :roll:
