Rampent
I’d imagine what has happened is that people with disabilities are given appropriate seats for their disability when they buy their ticket, and Blunket was given a standard hospitality ticket by Channel 4. What? The whole event is meant for peeps with disability.
cressida
Just a thought, but everybody could be one punch or accident away from being disabled themselves:(

wednesday1
Can we ban him from Sheffield? Not a great fan of his, but I'd much rather ban you!
Scare
What other seat? Do you mean you actually don't know what the words 'blustery gantry' indicate, or are you seeking a more exact description hopefully to reinforce your prejudices against people with physical disabilties? Everyone seems to be missing the point that this is the Paralympics, organised with the sole aim of enabling people with differing abilities to compete. If they can't even accommodate a blind person who uses a dog to enable him to get about in the seat that was reserved for him, they obviously aren't doing a very good job, are they? Let's just leave aside that it happened to be David Blunkett, and concentrate on the bigger issue? No I do not know what a " blustery gantry is " , never come across the word/s...Why don't you explain what it is? .. And he was offered another seat, it was presumably the blustery gantry one
Bigthumb
Do we know that he didn't pay for this seat? Yes. It was a freebie from Channel 4.
Bigthumb
What? The whole event is meant for peeps with disability. I had assumed that was just those competing. I can't see why any normal seat would be unsuitable for a guide dog to lie under. They go on buses, attend meetings, go to the theatre, into restaurants, pubs and all sorts of different places and situations. Most of the time, no-one even knows they're there. And he wouldn't have been in an ordinary seating area anyway, would he? I'd be willing to bet he just encountered a badly trained jobsworth, with a chip in his/her shoulder who wanted to make some sort of non-existent political point. That's all very well until someone in an unsuitable seat has an accident and decides to make a fuss because no jobsworth pointed it out.
saunaman
Maybe the dog wasn't sporting a corporate logo on its jacket , eg Pedigree Chum , hence the dodgy seats , missed marketing opportunity if you ask me
southcoast
He a millionaire Tory posing as a socialist. I care for him very little. He should pay his OWN way. I would have him in the bins outside. Pity he was ever let into government.
