ECCOnoob
Well unfortunatley those who "built" it let it go to ruin. A private consortium have now bought it and spent millions doing them up. Therefore they are perfectly entitled to sell the same however they want. The council had their chance and they did nothing with it.

How much did this consortium pay for the most prime spot in the city centre.

I'm sure the council pumped a lot of money into refurb and regeneration into Park Hill and many other council estates, only for it to be ruined by the selfish and thoughtless few. morrisminor
seems like its future could become very real now, and hopefully pretty good: http://publicaccess.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=MBRYIZNYFY000 (look at the design and access statement). If that doesnt work use http://publicaccess.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/ and the application number 12/03175/FUL

Brian Hanson
Choose which one of these is most likely correct. I think it's the second. First I heard an American company had bought the old post office on Fitzalan Square for £10,000,000 and are awaitng planning permission to turn it into a luxury Grand Hotel. Second I read recently in a newspaper that Sheffield City Council are the new owners and they intend demolishing the entire building and transforming all the site and Fitzalan Square into a new mini parkland, simular to the Peace Garden which is beside the Town Hall. Wardsbitter
The Old Post Office is being evaluated for a 'partnership' regeneration project involving Sheffield Hallam.I'm reassured about its future from what little I've heard.
