General Post Office, Fitzalan Square- its future?

The University hasn't bought it. They've leased it.

 

It's not going to be apartments, it's going to be used for teaching.

 

The owners may resume development of the lower part of the site, and that might be flats.

 

I think thats great news for that part of the city. Nice looking building, I remember going in it with my grandma when it was a post office.

Today the University announced it will take a long lease on the former Head Post Office Building at Fitzalan Square. This will provide an impressive new home for Hallam's Sheffield Institute of Art (SIA). The Grade II listed building is currently being sympathetically restored and refurbished. The new SIA will open for business January 2016.

Thanks for posting the link. Great to see a lovely old building brought back into use. Hopefully the users of the building will inject a bit of life and money back into that part of the city.
