Asaw
Do you remember the Indian Gentlemen (Seikh's) coming round with the suitcases. What did they sell I remember Socks.Stockings and Dustera. What Else? I was brought up in the Netherthorpe/Crookesmsso are. some houses had high walls at the front of the which you use to go up steps to the houses. The cellar grate was halfway up the wall. Who shovelled the coal from the floor into the grate? Do yoy remember buying splits from the chippy for 6D (half chips ,half peas)?

carosio
I remember them coming round when I lived at Walkley, but can't remember them selling other than what you mention. The last time we had a visit would be around the early to mid 70s, we declined to buy anything as by this time those items were becoming cheaper at the markets. I remember him shutting up his suitcase and uttering a few choice words that weren't exactly polite!
