Who is feeling the pinch of the recession?

Yes there is assistance from the bike but it would only come from being on flat surface, i mean don't get me wrong, it would help going up hills but it's help would be very minimal

say it does help with inclines.......but guess the question is "is an incline a hill ?" or just something that is a little bit steeper than flat!

have you had first hand experience?

ha- thanks for that. Perhaps not the best for a city built on 7 hills then?

......but presumably even with pedaling there is some "assistance" from the bike?

I would recommend the Tourer, it's as strong as a workhorse and it's the only one that has rear and front indicators. It's also pedal assist up hills, as are most electric bikes. Great value brand new, I've had two of them and the Classic.

I thought the whole idea of the motor was to help with the hills ………. Otherwise its pointless.

Well they do help but not much, you still got to pedal hard to get up hills, if you get a racer then they are easy to get up hills, i have a racer and hills are no problem

How much does the tourer weigh though? If there heavy then hills will be harder to get up, not easier

An electric racer, does it have a lead acid battery or the light weight lithium battery? Obviously the lighter the battery for hills the better. Thing is, the lighter battery electric bikes cost a lot more, but I guess if you come across a lot of hills they will solve your problem. Can you post a link of a bike similar to yours?

Yes I'm not talking about things a little steeper than flat, that is its use but I'm talking about proper hills, it would be no good for them, you would still have to peddle hard... But roads a little steeper than flat would be ok

I have no first hand experience on these sort of electric bikes but it's best to see how heavy they are

If someone wants to use a bike to get to work surely they want a mountain bike , especially if its hilly ………. The idea of sweaty middle aged lycra clad people isn’t a good start to anyone’s day, leave the racer for those that actually go racing.

Mountain bike is the worst for hills, you want a racer, they are very light compared to mountain bikes
