AWOL
I was never aware of much porn on the internet. I guess that such issues are down to individual surfing habits.
woodmally
Sorry. I misunderstood your comment. You'd be right except that at least a significant proportion of parents are cravenly abdicating responsibility for their children. However so why should the rest of the country suffer from these parents who abdicate responsibility. The same way why should drinkers suffer because of alcoholics. It seems because of a small minority the government has to interfere.

HMG has a duty in loco parentis, just as in the case of adoption/fostering.

Does the fact that millons of teenagers in this country are learning about sex from watching hardcore porn online bother you much? It bothers me. I'm as anti banning things/anti censorship as anyone you're likely to meet, but I tend to think making porn an opt in service might be a good idea. True therefore the solution would be to stop it at route cause. If you have parents that dont give two hoots about their kids. Solution rather than restricting things for the rest of us will be target those parents. ie remove the children from these parents.

How on earth would that work? Children's use of porn by it's very nature tends to be something parents aren't aware of.

I agree with you the point I was making was in an argument that we should restrict things because parents cant look after their kids. In terms of the rest of the poplulation who do look after their kids correctly then decent parents can install filtering software. This would negate the need for web service providers restricting it for everybody and having to regulate the web.

Halibut
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_5pjXEOJoc Give us a clue then - technically speaking it's not within the SF rulebook to post a link and not comment. I'm not even looking unless you give me an idea what's behing the link and what you think of it.
denomis
Yeah getting isp's to block porn would stop kids looking at it, look what a fine job was done blocking pirate bay. No one in Britain uses pirate bay now. It's all just a waste of time and effort even trying to block anything on the Internet, even a retarded chimp can get around any block.
