And what a year it's been...we've been lucky enough to host a massive variety of acts, from some of the best local talent in Sheffield and Leeds, to major players such as Commix and Stray. So we needed to come up with something seriously special for our 1st Birthday, and after a lot of discussion, we have decided on a line-up which will prove to be a night to remember to all those in attendance. For the 1st time ever, straight out of the Metalheadz camp, Displace is delighted to bring you one of the biggest names in underground Drum & Bass to Sheffield, in the form of JUBEI!!! *********************************************** Featuring: JUBEI (Metalheadz) REVOLVER & LEONA (Audio Warfare/Think?) ALIBI DRONE / ESCARIOT / LUKAI *********************************************** JUBEI Jubei is the name on the lips of almost every top-flight drum & bass DJ in 2011. Whether its his solo productions, collaborations with the likes of Breakage, Alix Perez, Icicle, SPY, Lenzman and Ulterior Motive, or his work as a member of Code 3 (with SP:MC and Dakuan), his music features heavily in the sets of those in the know. As a DJ he is quickly building an enviable reputation as a razor sharp technician with impeccable selection and regularly plays drum & bass institutions such as Metalheadz, Playaz, Renegade Hardware and Detonate with regular trips to Europe and Japan. Jubei's first home, MC GQs Emcee Recordings released his 2006 debut Still There and Harvester, a pair of collaborations with Breakage that paved the way for another co-write, The Struggle this time alongside Sabre for Breakage and Equinoxs Scientific Wax. A move to Newcastle brought forth a kinship with Phobia that delivered a string of releases for the likes of Renegade Hardware and Phobia's own label Coded Music, followed by solo releases for Shogun Audio, 31 Records, Exit and Critical Music that firmly established Jubei as an integral member of the next generation of D&B heavy-hitters. Having found a fan in Goldie, Jubei was quickly snapped up and signed exclusively to his seminal Metalheadz label who wasted no time releasing his 2010 debut 'Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained EP' featuring the heavily supported 'Patience' (feat. dBridge), Project 1 (feat. S.P.Y.) and 'Alignment'. His production talents have also been enlisted to help engineer Goldie's orchestral piece 'Sine Tempus' for the BBC Proms and his Classic Goldie TV show. Since then a second 'Distrust' EP boasting collaborations with Alix Perez and Ulterior Motive and a remix 12" featuring a Boddika take on 'Alignment' and Jubei's own VIP mix of 'Patience' have set the tone for another Metalheadz star in the making. His debut album for the label is penned for 2012. REVOLVER & LEONA Revolver & Leona have been appearing all over the scene for years. This Summer they've been featured at Home Grown, Replica and are also set to appear at BOMFEST for the 5th year in a row this September. They must be doing something right! As well as playing out, these two have been conjuring some serious magic in the studio. Make sure you keep an eye out for their Forthcoming EP "Several Points to Life" which is to be released on Think? in the coming months. All those in attendance can be sure they'll get to hear some exclusives off the album dropped at Forward for the first time ever! As well as Revolver working on his own productions with Leona, he is also one half of BAD EDUCATION, which has been making quite a name for itself over the past few months! Their track "Darklite" was released on VANGUARD AUDIO, and they've also had multiple releases on AUDIO WARFARE, including the "All Night Long VIP" which has been tearing up venues all over! The name has made it onto line-ups all over the place as well, including SUBDUB and OUTLOOK. If you can't wait till the 10th to see what Revolver and Leona are about, you can catch a sneak preview on their radio show every Monday night 20.00-22.00 on Steel City Radio. This set is going to be pure DANGER!! ALIBI Newcomer ALIBI is poised to unleash a techy blend of rollers to get everyone warmed up for the long night ahead. You should definitely make a point of getting down early to catch his set, expect big things!! DRONE / ESCARIOT / LUKAI By the time this date rolls around, the Displace Trio will have just about recovered from hosting the CRITICAL SOUND room at DETONATE 5 days prior to this, and will be set to deliver something special in celebration of smashing Sheffield for one year. As per usual, they will be punishing Forward's sound system with a selection of fierce breaks and rumbling basslines.
