nickycheese
Found this caterpillar in some veg that was sourced in Kenya: http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n66/nickwain/Caterpillar/Caterpillar.jpg Anybody got an idea as to which caterpillar it is? Also, should I release it (a possible non-native species)? If not, then what to do with it? I don't think I could squish it ...
esme
Try these people http://www.butterflyhouse.co.uk/, they might be able to identify it, plus they are local enough for a visit if you fancy taking the kids
wednesday1
Looks like the caterpillar of the cabbage white buttefly, many of which have migrated south due to the rain, I 'd release it onto the cabbages.

Guest sibon
Blimey. Is it alive? Against all of my instincts, I'd say that you should kill it. It could be anything and it might cause problems. Flush it down the loo. if you can't squish it. We have enough invasive species already. Edit: Or do what Ming says up there ^^^

Looker
Funny enough. Our neighbours asked 3 children, our 11 year old included to weed their front garden. They came in shouting with this same caterpiller type creature in a plastic bowl. It was about 3 1/2 inches long and about 1/2 inch round its middle. Its face and eyes were similar to a crocodile. Quite a scary looking thing. I poked it with a stick and its face spun around to attack the stick. Told kids to put it back in the bush where they found it and not to touch it. This was about an hour ago tonight. Why are Kenyan insects invading our gardens?
