No it didn't, any job that has to rely heavily on subsidies is not a proper job. Not only that they were constantly going on strike for better wages as in many cases what they were paid wasn't a real wage. What Thatcher actually did was destroy self respect and replace it with a feeling of helplessness . That legacy remains and festers. Its 30+ years since it all happened and from what I can see that legacy is mainly long gone and fester in the minds of a just a few who just cant move forward. The bankers are Camerons friends; they purposely brought England to the edge of the precipice in order to get rid of the Labour government. You can almost cut the air with a knife. The tories are now talking about expanding everything that the milk snatcher destroyed. As such they are accepting that she was wrong. I used to live and work down the pit in Dodworth and the place has very much changed for the better. How can you expand what has been destroyed? We would have significantly more immigrates and a larger population, because it is they will will work for low pay and not the British.
