09.09.12 - High Green Rovers 2-4 Sheffield Forum

Recommended Posts

Sheffield Forum left High Green with 3 points after a very hard working display. There were a few changes to the side as Liam Wales and Ryan Lynch were both unavailable. Corey Crownshaw came in to make his debut and Ashley Proctor started on left back. Forum also introduced a new formation, 3rd one they have used in 2 games.

The game start brightly with Forum having the better chances and playing the better football and broke through early in the 1st half. The ball had been worked forward and broke to Tom Gray who skipped round 3 challenges before putting the ball away for 1-0. Forum tried to extend their advantage but couldn’t find the finish, using the wings well.

But it was rather against the run of play when High Green got back into the fixture. A corner was hit low evading the front post, it finally landed to a High Green player who slotted home to bring the scores level.

This opened the game up a little, Ryan Savage shot across goal whilst Tom Gray and Daniel Sheedy shot wide. High Green attempted longer efforts on goal, none of which really threatened.

2nd half began and both teams seemed confident of going out and getting the result but after a little pressure, Forum regained the lead. Daniel Sheedy attempted a looping shot which was only just clawed away by the keeper. The loose ball fell to Ryan Savage who smashed home, 2-1 Forum.

The game started end to end as High Green now chased the game but didn’t really threaten Adam Smith in goal until they were 3-1 down. The 3rd for Sheffield Forum came from the penalty spot. Tom Gray yet again in possession just outside the box, ran at the defender and the change of pace attracted the challenge. No hesitation from the referee in pointing to the spot. Sheedy coolly stepped up and finished to the keepers right.

High Green then threw everything at Forum forcing Smith into 2 great saves. The first a free back post header just yards out which was well claimed down by the post. This was followed by a save by the legs sending the ball over the bar. High Green also hit the top of the bar. Forum meanwhile had kept their game going but was not more counter-attacking football, both Savage and Sheedy going close.

A tense finish was set up when High Green finally pulled one back. The ball had bounced around the area before falling yard out again, this time Smith unable to keep the ball out. High Green went all out attack in search of the equaliser but Forum held firm.

The game was finally killed off in added time as High Green were pressured into playing back to he keeper. Sheedy chased him down and capitilised as the keeper kicked the air, completely missing the ball leaving Sheedy to run through, turn, give a cheeky smile before putting the ball away for the 4th and his 2nd.
