Why do you believe in God or a creator ?

Recommended Posts

This was my original post , i was only wanting some positive replies as to why people believe in God all i got was nasty comments from unbelievers ? can we get back on topic please ?? i only want personal experiences of faith not the angst of the unbeliever :@

The problem you will find is that your own personal views are in a minority here so its the wrong question in the wrong place. Perhaps you should ask your own people on the Jahwah website instead of trying to promote it on here.

People are sticking to the topic, you've asked about people's reasons for believing in a god, and put forward your own.

What's wrong with unbelievers pointing out that your reasons do not stand up to scrutiny?

They are discussing the content of your posts, it's just that you don't like what they are saying.

Why do you believe in God ,you could be of any religion or faith , for what reason did you come to have that faith or what makes you believe in God ?

for me it is everything you see around you ie/ from flowers to the universe , the earth and how finely tuned it is with a protective shield , a water cycle ,Photosynthesis, the air we breath , nature etc these cause me to believe someone must have designed them . also the human mind how we have a capability to think beyond what we see , think beyond death and even think about this subject .

I just have to read the bible to look at Gods human rights record. It seems if you total the deaths that God has caused compared to Satan. He seems to win on the number of people killed.

Sodem and Gomorah - He wiped out the two cities.

Noah's Ark - He killed the entire planet.

Crucifixion - He did nothing which meant his only son was tortured to death in the burning hot sun.

If you do believe the bible then you have to support the barbarism of God as mentioned above.

So either like me you dont believe God exists at all or if you do and the above is true he is a barbaric tirant who has no love for even his only son.

If the universe was curved which it isn't then No because it would just fold back on its self, but it’s flat so a finite universe would have an edge, a point where it exists and then it doesn't. If it’s expanding it must be expanding into something at the edge.

Being infinite resolves these problems.

The universe is curved though, which is a rather important point. It's not a Eculidean space so it can, and indeed does curve back onto itself. Imagine the surface of a baloon - that has no edge, yet is infinite. Bolw air into it that space expands. The universe works the same, but in four (or ten (or 26)) dimensions depending on what scale you are looking at it.

Now take that elastic band to an infinite size in all direction, half of infinity is infinity, double infinity is infinity, its can expand and contract without increasing or decreasing in size.

Has it’s expanding the matter appears to move apart, has it contracts assuming it will then the matter will appear to move together.

No, if you double an infitine length then you have a larger size of infinity. Consider the illustrations given in Hilberts Hotel for example.

The universe has been proven to be flat.

Sorry that should say that the evidence suggests the universe is flat.

Well here is an irony indeed. A comment by a Jeohvas witness has increased my knowledge of science and the cosmos from your little debate with obelix.

I dont somehow think that was Psalms intention but its certainly a good side effect.

It’s always worth getting involved in religious debates you never know what you will learn, but hey its science it could all change tomorrow. :D
