The Autumn party season starts right here!

The Pentown Weekender Part I

Part I - 29th September - Doors at 7.30 - Late

K.O.G Smiling Ivy Riddimtion ProVerb

Arnivore Selekta Chestar Soulful Sally

A whirlwind of collaboration is set for this September as Smiling Ivy and K.O.G join forces for a double EP launch.

Both formidable forces in Sheffield’s ska and reggae scene, the acts decided to team up earlier this year to guarantee a launch party for the history books.

K.O.G.

K.O.G will be getting hips-shaking with the help of Riddimtion – a revered collective of pioneering reggae DJ’s - and will no doubt blow minds with his extravagant stage show and slick African stylings.

Smiling Ivy

Renowned for igniting audiences in a skanking frenzy, Smiling Ivy will be bringing some carnival-raucous to the table with their infectious mix of ska, funk, reggae, and rock.

Pro Verb

Pro Verb is the man tasked with getting the crowds all warmed up, though, and will certainly rise to the occasion. While still young, this lyrically-gifted street-poet is guaranteed to get the party started with feel-good hip-hop over laid back acoustic guitar.

Arnivore

Arnivore, of the Cool Beans collective, will also be in tow to get some top-class genre-terrorism over the airwaves. Like a musical seamstress, Arnivore will keep the bodies rocking until the early hours.

The Riddimtion crew will also be lending a hand in this department, though. And with a reggae collection that spans roots, dancehall, ska, rocksteady, dub and bashment - they will also be making certain that the dance-floor remains hot and sweaty all night.

However, it gets even better as Selekta Chestar will be spinning some smooth Jamaican beats and Soulful Sally will bring some funk, soul and Motown flavours to the occasion.

But don't get all partied out just yet….Part II is just as impressive.

The Drop

kicking off their UK Tour right her, The Drop are a 9-piece roots-rock-reggae outfit based in and around London.

They are part of the small but significant front-line of British new-wave reggae bands, pushing with a sincere awareness for the British reggae revival.

They effortlessly walk the syncopated path laid by generations before. The arrangements are meticulous, leaving plenty of air for the booming dub bass to vibrate, never suffocating the thoughtful lyrics of vocalist Dandelion.

The band has quickly built a reputation for infectious melodies and an authentic heavy roots sound laced with a refreshingly eclectic originality. Dandelion, the most recent addition to the band, is already an established reggae artist in his own right. His solo projects have seen him sing on several successful Dubstep releases, most notably CCTV on the Hyperdub label which was supported by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs and Giles Peterson on Radio 1.

The band have already stormed the UK festival circuit with over 20 festival appearances over the last 2 years including;

They have shared the stage with acts such as Toots and the Maytals, Dreadzone, Babyhead, Rodney P, DJ Derek and Blackslate. Their material and enthusiasm has taken them this far in such a short time. Green Man, Electric Picnic, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown Fair and Beach Break Live to name a few.
