WasThatWise
British gas have just fitted a new Honeywell V4600 compact gas control valve to my Baxi boiler, after four days I have noticed it is now buzzing when in use, a sound a bit like when a strip light bulb is on its way out. I can get BG out to fix it under contract at no cost but can wait until annual service if it's nothing dangerous. Any advice welcome, British Gas bashers stay away from this post! citywide
Hi, the buzzing sound is likely to be from the solenoid on the gas valve. As you have a repair contract with them I would advise contacting British gas to arrange for one of their engineers to visit to check the gas valve. If it is the solenoid buzzing it shouldn't cause any danger but a new valve still shouldn't be buzzing so they may well replace it.
