Dripping breadcakes

i remember as kids we used to go into the pork butchers at the top of gower street burngreave and ask for a 3d dip the old man used to dip the breadcake in the tray he had just taken the joint out of and mop up all the fat and bits of meat the best 3d i ever spent wish it was still there now

One of our local pubs does great Sunday Lunches and after the Roasts have been taken out of the oven etc the Landlord takes the cooking trays round the pub into which he has put large chunks of french bread - people go bloody mad for them

As an apprentice my first job in a morning was to fetch two bread & dripping sandwiches from the canteen, for my boss. I was doing this until I reached 21. A good one these days (always was) is Lily's Pork Store near the Wednesday ground.
