JOJO SMITH

In the last 13 years JoJo has gone from open spot to late night TV personality, from global fame on the Internet to international comedy performer, not bad going for someone who until then had never stood on a stage in her life.

International performances include two sold out tours of South Africa, Shanghai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and both the Sydney and Melbourne comedy festivals. Her strong views had her proclaimed a feminist icon in Cape Town, and quite frankly the laid back Aussies wondered what had hit them. Safe to say she made quite an impact!

During the 40-odd episodes of Funny Business that JoJo wrote and presented she made a name for herself as a chat show host of the old school, that is she let the guests do the talking. Fifteen years as a newspaper journalist taught her you get more out of someone if you shut up. Her guests included Jimmy Cricket, Lee Evans, Jo Brand and Rich Hall.

A diagnosis of Repetative Strain Injury combined with an interview with the late, great Bill Hicks, gave JoJo the impetus she needed to take the plunge into the world of stand-up comedy, and she hasn't looked back since.

"Raunchy comedienne, very, very, funny" London Evening Standard

"It's worth seeking out Funny Business on ITV in the early hours of Sunday morning. JoJo Smith pulls off the difficult task of analysing comedy while being funny at the same time" Martin Kelner, Daily Mail

"A manic force, leading where male stand-ups fear to tread" Sydney Morning Herald

"The Most Dangerous Woman in Britain" Cape Argus, Cape Town

"JoJo Smith is a rollicking good stand-up, but she is also so blue she makes Jo Brand look like one of the nuns in The Sound of Music" James Rampton, The Independent

DAVE WILLIAMS

Dave has been a full time comedian since 1998, and is booked both as stand-up and compere by a range of venues/promoters including: Comedy Store, Jongleurs, Avalon, Off the Kerb, Comedy Café, Up the Creek, Hyena Newcastle.

Dave has performed in several countries. In Australia he has headlined the Sydney Comedy Store and appeared at clubs in Melbourne and Brisbane. He has also played in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

"Charming storyteller with a delightful grasp of silliness." Manchester Evening News

"A fine, original comic mind; always surprising his audience with his wit. One of the most underrated acts on the circuit " Edinburgh Evening News

"Inspired one-liners punctuated with surreal nonsense." Scotland on Sunday

“An engaging and amenable performer - more will be heard of him." The Stage

JASON COOK

Be ready for pretty much anything when Jason Cook takes to the stage. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a dark, sharp comedic mind capable of taking an unsuspecting audience to places they didn’t want to go. Jason has a way of presenting true-to-life stories that drag you in and won’t let go, close to the edge but always intriguing and blessed with the sort of charm that’ll have you laughing in spite of yourself.

At the same time Jason can cater to any audience with his prolific writing and irresistible charm.

Jason was first bitten by the comedic bug as part of the renowned Newcastle based sketch troupe known simply as Soup. He then went on to make a name for himself around the Tyneside area, most notably his time spent as a regular compere at The Hyena Club. There is no better place to hone comedic talent than in front of 300 baying punters, many of whom look capable of eating their own young.

Jason is also the writer of Die Clatterschenkfieternmaus and Malcolm and Mirriam. The 2005 Edinburgh show gaining a treasured 4 star review from the Scotsman.

In 2007, Jason took his first solo stand up show to the fringe, selling out for the bulk of the run, and earning 5 star reviews. He then embarked on a sell out world tour and scooped the coveted “Best International Show” at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, an award previously won by Eddie Izzard and Stephen K Amos.

In 2008 he returned with to the Fringe with “Joy”, earning MORE five star reviews and selling out the run to the point that extra shows had to be added to cope with demand. Another world tour of “Joy” sold out the New Zealand Comedy Festival and once again, we were forced to add extra shows to keep up with the sheer numbers of people wanting to see the show.

Jason was also invited to the Adelaide Fringe Festival where he hosted the entire season of the prestigious “Best of The Edinburgh Fest” showcase for the month.

2009 saw him return to the Fringe with “FEAR”, another show based on the trials and tribulations of his own life, the 5 star reviews rolled in once more and, once again, he was off around the world with further invites to the most prestigious comedy festivals on the planet. In 2010 he followed up with “The End – Part 1” to yet more critical acclaim. “Jason Cook’s latest show is a wonderfully life-affirming, beautifully crafted, total and utter joy. My jaw aches from laughing. “ 5 Stars. Time Out, London.

“the best MC this side of anywhere…. Geordie genius” – Tim Arthur, Time Out, London

2011 and 2012 have seen much of Jason’s time being taking up with writing and starring his brand new BBC2 sitcom “Hebburn” that broadcasts this October and will make Jason a household name.

CHRISTIAN REILLY

At the age of 15, Christian Reilly joined a band to get laid. The Salvation Army had different ideas…

As former integral part of the Perrier award-winning show Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars, with comic/songster Rich Hall, Christian's career has taken him around the world three times. On his way, he received accolades at international festivals and numerous network TV credits in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Britain.

Now a solo stand-up performer and playing all the major comedy venues in his own right, Christian uses his dynamic guitar and vocal skills to target histrionic rock bands, musical theatre and morose indie musicians. He recently wrote and performed for 'That Was Then This Is Now' (BBC Radio 2) as musical counterpart to Richard Herring and Emma Kennedy, as well as giving his improvisation skills an outing on Radio 2's 'Jammin'.

Christian's comic songs, improvisations, sharp wit and youthful energy have delighted audiences wherever he performs.

He has also just finished a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for his new show, “This is not a love song.”

"His stand-up is witty and heaving with punchlines…will win over all but the hardest hearts and minds." Chortle

"This genuine, trendy, confident comedian has a natural talent for risky jokes, song and quips which you can't help laughing at! If you get the chance to see Reilly live, do so. He is not to be missed!" Funny.co.uk
